DJI just supercharged its flagship action camera with a major firmware update. The Osmo Action 6 now gains 8K video recording and direct cloud uploads, a significant upgrade for creators.
This pre-holiday update transforms the camera’s capabilities. Users can now shoot in stunning 8K UHD at up to 30 frames per second, a feature that was not available at launch.
The 8K mode supports professional D-Log M 10-bit color in H.265. This gives vloggers and filmmakers much more flexibility for color grading in post-production.
The new cloud upload function is a significant improvement for workflow. You can send footage directly to Baidu Netdisk, Quark, OneDrive, Google Drive, or your personal NAS.
Other handy additions include Film-style tone presets for photos and focus peaking on the screen. Focus peaking helps you nail manual focus, which is crucial for detailed 8K shots.
Updating is straightforward through the DJI Mimo app.
The Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo remains priced at $379 USD. That’s solid value for an 8K-capable, rugged camera.
What do you think? Is 8K a must-have for your action videos, or is the cloud upload the real winner here? Let us know in the comments.
