Crunchyroll has announced that the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards will return to Tokyo, Japan on May 23. This event marks the awards’ milestone 10th edition.
The global celebration will feature a star-studded orange carpet, worldwide pre-show, and once-in-a-lifetime performances honoring nominees across 32 categories of anime. Nominees will be revealed on April 2, alongside the launch of global fan voting.
Popular voice actress and performer Sally Amaki and renowned entertainer Jon Kabira will return as co-hosts for the fourth straight year. The global pre-show will be hosted by Crunchyroll’s Lauren Moore and Tim Lyu.
Crunchyroll revealed a preliminary music lineup for the ceremony. Japanese singer Yoko Takahashi will perform a 30th anniversary tribute to 1995’s seminal anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. The performance will feature the renowned theme ‘A Cruel Angel’s Thesis.’.
Nominees will be selected from eligible titles that premiered between January 1 and December 31, 2025 by the 2026 Anime Awards judges. The panel will be representing global creatives, tastemakers, experts, and influencers.
Lastly, Sony Music Solutions Inc. and Dempsey Productions will support Crunchyroll in executing the event. Of course, it will also be livestreamed for global audiences.
