The Apple AirTag 2 has been released in the Philippines. This iteration comes with improved tracking capabilities and enhanced hardware.
A single AirTag is priced at P1,990 with the four-pack costing P6,790. The device is now available for order through Apple’s website and the Apple Store app.
The AirTag 2 features Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. This is the same chip that is also found in the iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch Series 11.
This upgrade extends Precision Finding’s maximum effective range by up to 50 percent. For reference, this helps users locate misplaced items through haptic feedback, on-screen visuals, and audio cues.
A revised Bluetooth chip further increases connectivity range, while the internal speaker is now 50 percent louder. This change makes alerts more audible when the tracker is hidden or covered.
Precision Finding support has been expanded to Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2, and later models. In other words, users can now track locations directly from their wearable.
Apple is also expanding its Share Item Location feature. This enables users to securely share an AirTag’s location with authorized third parties like airline staff for luggage recovery.
Privacy and security features remain intact, including end-to-end encryption, regularly rotated Bluetooth identifiers, and cross-platform alerts to prevent unwanted tracking. Apple says all location data stays private and inaccessible, even to them.
The updated tracker uses 85 percent recycled plastic and 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in its magnets. It remains compatible with existing AirTag accessories.
