The ASUS ROG XREAL R1 gaming glasses are now official as a plug-and-play wearable. It’s capable of projecting up to a 171-inch virtual screen at 240Hz, letting users play games almost anywhere.
The glasses are fitted with micro-OLED panels at FHD resolution with a 0.01ms response time. By default, the screen tracks your head movement while an Anchor Mode can pin it in place.
The wearable leverages built-in 3D depth-of-field to retain imagery while electrochromic lenses automatically or manually tints based on ambient light. In terms of audio, the glasses are tuned by Bose, which makes it flexible for either gaming or media consumption.
Setting it up is simple too, as users just need to connect a USB-C cable. Supported devices include the ROG Ally X, gaming desktops, or laptops with no need for extra software.
The ASUS ROG XREAL R1 ships with an ROG Control Dock offering two HDMI 2.0 ports. It also comes with one DisplayPort 1.4 for quick input switching.
However, its battery life and pricing are yet to be announced. We’ll update readers once we get more information about the glasses as this is a developing story.
