Creality has released the firmware for several of its 3D printers as open source. This gives users more control over their machines and will benefit creators through tweaking performance and features for the community.
To elaborate, users can now take customizing (or optimizing) their printers to higher limits. This includes collaborating with others and building on top of existing work for more efficient and smarter printing setups.
Creality says they’re also planning to open-source more printer models over time. This would make for a longer-term shift toward a more transparent and community driven ecosystem.
The company has published repositories for the K2 Plus, Creality Hi, and K1 Series firmware on GitHub. For reference, this was all based on the Klipper 3D printer firmware project.
Creators can download the code, experiment, and submit changes. In addition, you may also join a broader network of Creality and Klipper users already sharing tips, mods, and fixes.
