Crypto.com acquires AI.com domain for record-breaking $70 million

AI and cryptocurrency community members discussing blockchain technology and artificial intelligence integration.

Crypto.com founder Kris Marszalek has purchased the domain AI.com for $70 million, the most expensive domain sale ever recorded. The entire purchase was paid in cryptocurrency, with broker Larry Fischer handling the transaction.

Marszalek stated that artificial intelligence will be one of the biggest technology shifts in the next decade. He added that owning AI.com positions Crypto.com with a premium digital asset directly tied to that future.

The sale surpasses previous domain records including CarInsurance.com ($49.7 million) in 2010, VacationRentals.com ($35 million) in 2007, and Voice.com ($30 million) in 2019. This adds to Crypto.com’s history of high-profile spending.

In 2021, the company paid $700 million for naming rights to the Los Angeles arena now known as Crypto.com Arena. The $70 million deal demonstrates the increasing value of digital assets like domain names.
