FastVMT (Fast Video Motion Transfer) is a new system that transfers the motion pattern from a reference video onto a different object or scene using text prompts. For example, the trajectory of a car driving down a road can be reused for a boat on water, a baseball player on a field, a train, or a wolf in a forest.
The method preserves both object and camera motion, so the timing and path of the reference clip remain intact while appearance and context change. Additional demos show backgrounds and foreground elements being swapped independently, allowing creators to reuse the same motion blueprint across multiple looks.
Compared with previous motion transfer systems, FastVMT reportedly generates videos about 3.4x faster on average, making it more suitable for iteration-heavy creative workflows. Once released, FastVMT could become a useful tool for VFX teams and advertisers who want precise motion control without re-shooting reference footage.
