In the newest Chrome Beta (build 31) for Android, Google Chrome Beta for Android Gets “Add to Homescreen” Shortcuts for Sites and Web Apps Where now you can goto settings where you can click the add to homescreen and your favorite website will have a link on your homescreen.

they are also testing out a new tab page which they introduced on the Google Chrome Desktop, this helps the browser to load faster
