As per this blog post, five new video editing tools have been launched in Google Photos. The update should be rolling out on Android and iOS, aiming to make video creation easier overall.

A prominent addition is the new set of templates for making highlight videos. They come with preset music, text, and cuts that sync to the beat.
From here, users just need to choose photos and/or clips for the video. Google Photos will then take care of everything else, leaving you with a shareable video.
In addition, the video editor went through a redesign with a cleaner layout. It now has a universal timeline for multi-clip editing along with an adaptive canvas capable of adjusting to different formats.
As mentioned, even music tools are getting an upgrade. Users can feel free to browse the platform’s built-in music library to match your highlight videos on either Android or iOS.
For Android-specific changes, users will be receiving new text tools with custom overlays with new backgrounds, colors, and fonts. Also, the new editor will be the default tool for tinkering with single video clips on Android.
This means you can music and text to individual clips to help make the process more streamlined. These features are either available or will be rolling out soon.
