Jolla Phone announced as brand comes back from hiatus

It’s currently being pitched as an independent European Linux Phone with no tracking or hidden analytics. Interestingly, users also have the option to run Android apps while remaining Google-free.

It has a 6.36-inch FHD AMOLED screen protected by Gorilla Glass. For optics, it has a 50-megapixel main, 13-megapixel ultra wide, with its selfie shooter specs yet to be revealed.

Powering this device is an unspecified MediaTek chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. If readers find this lacking, it will come with expandable storage via microSD.

Plus, it packs a 5,500mAh (replaceable) battery that comes with a removable back cover. Feature-wise, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a dedicated privacy switch.

The switch can be used for cutting of its mic, cameras, Bluetooth, and more. It will ship with Sailfish OS 5 with the company promising at least five years of software support.

The Jolla Phone will come in Orange, Kaamos Black, and Snow White. It will also support connectivity standards like 5G, dual-SIM, and NFC.

Still, take this with a grain of salt as the full specs are subject to final confirmation. While they’ve announced pre-orders via X, the arrival of the device will rely on crowdfunding.

The Jolla Phone will proceed with production if at least 2,000 units are pre-ordered by January 4, 2026. At the time of writing, the device already has 2,687 pre-orders online.
