Nvidia revealed Tegra X1 Mobile Superchip doubles the power of Tegra K1

Nvidia chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang announced a mobile processor named Tegra X1, the successor of last year’s Tegra K1 chip. Super efficient only 10 watts of power, but it has double the processing of 256 cores, compared to 192 in the Tegra K1.

It’s based on Nvidia’s Maxwell architecture,64-bit chip and has the ability to display 4K video images at 60 frames per second. Tegra X1 has more than a teraflop of computing power also supports H.265.

“We see a future of autonomous cars, robots and drones that see and learn, with seeming intelligence that is hard to imagine,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO and co-founder, NVIDIA. “They will make possible safer driving, more secure cities and great conveniences for all of us.

“To achieve this dream, enormous advances in visual and parallel computing are required. The Tegra X1 mobile super chip, with its one teraflops of processing power, is a giant step into this revolution.”

We may not see this chipset anytime soon but Nvidia is working on embedding this to future mobile computing devices.
