Self-Healing Plastic in a Room temperature goodbye scratches for Phones and Tablet

Self-Healing Plastic in a Room temperature goodbye scratches for Phones and Tablet

Professor Jianjun Cheng, graduate student Hanze Ying and postdoctoral researcher Yanfeng Zhang, of University of Illinois has developed a cheap elastic material made of polyurea (used to make Spandex) that can self-heal at room temperature.

In the video demo you will see that they cut the plastic bone material into half and then just let it heals itself for a couple of hours and the plastic has able to be intact again and still has that elasticity.

this discovery might be the future of the Self-Healing technology which you might see that has implemented with the LG Flex but with a different approach.

The new polymer is still at the research stage, but it shouldn’t take long for it to be picked up and used in commercial products. 🙂
