XploraOne by HMD teased online

The XploraOne by HMD hybrid phone has been teased online as an offering made for kids. It’s a simple device built with safety in mind with some added smart features.

This device was built in partnership with Xplora, a Norwegian kids’ smartwatch maker. This device aims to give kids a way to stay connected without the complexities of the modern smartphone.

It has a compact body that can easily fit in a child’s hand or pocket. Of course, this means it has a small display with thick bezels.

It also has a single rear camera with LED flash, a physical home button at the front, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Plus, the phone also comes with an extra physical key.

For safety, the XploraOne supports basic calling and messaging. There’s also location tracking and a whitelist system so kids can only interact with approved contacts.

Internet browsing and social media apps are intentionally left out to minimize exposure to online content. This was added to keep the experience focused on communication and safety.

HMD has yet to share the full hardware specifications, exact price, and launch schedule for the XploraOne. The company says more detailed information about this phone will be revealed at a later date.

Communication graduate, closet cynic, and kid at heart. Duane is a rare person to find, quite literally. He often takes to himself but has proven his mettle in tech media with his quick wits. Well, the portfolio of scriptwriting, web content, and public relations help too, we suppose. As a homebody, he often spends his time on the streaming platform Twitch or ‘farming’ gaming clips with friends. He is also an avid fan of round glasses and anything relative to blueberries.
